Vivian Portalatin presents a cooking demonstration and tasting of vegan dishes on the menu at her restaurant, Latin Port in Metuchen.
You will sample Mangu, which is mashed green plantains, and vegan versions of two signature stews - coconut milk-based Brazilian Moqueca made with tofu and spicy Costa Rican Carne en Salsa made with portabella mushrooms - and Portalatin will discuss the original fish and beef versions of these dishes. For dessert, Portalatin will bring churros and a special Central American coffee.
