Edison Public Library
The history of their oft overlooked contributions to our modern technology.
During World War II and continuing into the 1960s, women made up most of the computing workforce. But since then, the percentage of women working in computer science-related professions has declined to 26%. Jamie Liao will tell us about the most brilliant (and most overlooked) women in the history of Computer Science, whose contributions were integral to the technology we use every day.
Jamie lives at the unique intersection between tech, education, and community. She graduated from Rutgers with a B.S. in Computer Science and is currently pursuing a Master's in Educational Psychology from Rutgers Graduate School of Education. During the day, she works as a Senior Program Coordinator for the Computer Science Department at Rutgers University. She previously worked as a Cloud Software Engineer and Community Manager.
