With story and song, concert honors the careers and hit tunes of female vocalists and female composers active from 1925 to 1965. Program touts hit songs of Bessie Smith, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Jo Stafford, Judy Garland, Dinah Shore and others. We’ll also present some hits composed by such talented female songwriters as Cindy Walker, Dorothy Fields, Claire Rothrock, Peggy Lee & others.
Ken Lelen sings memorable love songs & plays vintage acoustic guitars. His concerts entertain people with amusing stories, clever lyrics & catchy tunes. His mirthful shows offer swing, jazz & popular tunes with romantic, musical & historic themes, Ken’s nimble guitar work and ebullient vocals.
Open to adults. Registration not required, but seating is limited and is on a first-come, first-served basis. Call or visit the library with any questions.
The Main Library on Plainfield Avenue next to the Edison Train Station. The library offers an extensive children’s room, a Meeting Room/Event Space, and a dedicated Maker Space.
