A live portrayal of a Union spy and unsung hero of the Civil War.
Come join us in celebrating Black History Month with a historical portrayal of Mary Bowser, a spy who used her photographic memory to relay Jefferson Davis’s plans to the Union army. Mary Bowser (aka Mary Richards or Mary Janes Richards Garvin) comes to life via her portrayal by Lorraine Stone. Ms. Stone is a performance artist who expresses the lives of historic African American woman through presentations of some of their life experiences and the times they lived in.
The Main Library on Plainfield Avenue next to the Edison Train Station. The library offers an extensive children’s room, a Meeting Room/Event Space, and a dedicated Maker Space.
