Grades 9 - 12
Maximus (aka Max, Moose, Maxi-Moose, Beast) is a 2-year-old Siberian Husky that resides in Edison, NJ with his four-person human family and his feline brother and Siberian Husky sister. His "official AKC name" is Innisfree King Maximus, CAA, BCAT, TKN, but he doesn't stand on ceremony! Max and Cathy became a certified therapy dog team in August 2022, and he has been serving as Cathy’s test dog for new therapy team evaluations. In his spare time, Max enjoys "coursing" or chasing plastic bags for 100-yds and 600-yds. Max is also taking a Nose Work class and will hopefully begin scent work trials in the near future. True to his ancestral breed, Max can "appear" majestic but is a snarky goofball in reality.
Zoey is a 6-year-old rescue who began training at 3 months old, and became certified as a therapy dog at 20 months old. Zoey was awarded the AKC’s Good Citizenship Award and understands basic sign language. Valerie Peña is a therapy dog handler with the Bright & Beautiful Therapy Dogs, an Occupational Therapist, and author of the World of Wally books. Valerie and Zoey enjoy working together as a team to spread comfort, healing and happiness to everyone they meet.
