From Fiber to Fabric: How Clothes Were Made Before Factories
ages 5 - 11
Saturday, August 01
11:00am - 11:45am
North Edison Branch
Multi-Purpose RoomBefore factories existed, every piece of clothing was made entirely by hand from raw fiber to finished garment.
In this hands-on workshop, children follow the colonial fiber-to-fabric journey through discussion and a real weaving activity. Using a simple cardboard loom and yarn, each child weaves and assembles their own small colonial-style bag to take home made exactly the way colonial children made things, one careful row at a time.
Includes: read-aloud · fiber-to-fabric diagram · loom weaving · bag assembly · reflection
Open to kids ages 5 - 11. Registration not required, but space is limited and is on a first-come, first-served basis. Call or visit the library with any questions.
