The Red Cross provides vital support to communities every day, including sheltering, feeding, and comforting people affected by disasters; supplying about 40% of the nation’s blood; teaching lifesaving skills; providing international humanitarian aid; and supporting veterans, military members, and their families.

The American Red Cross is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization—not a government agency—and relies on dedicated volunteers and the generosity of the American public to carry out its mission.
