Edison Public Library
A history of the world's biggest band from a Liverpool native
By 1965, the Beatles discovered their desire to continue writing boy-meets-girl pop singles was waning. Rubber Soul was their first attempt to produce an album that wasn’t just a collection of singles. This experiment would change the trajectory of their career, and of music altogether.
John Paul Groom will discuss the history of the Beatles from their creative revolution to their acrimonious break-up. A native Liverpudlian (attending the same high school as Paul & George and the same Sunday school as John), Groom’s life has been ensconced in Beatles lore. Now he’ll share his love of the world’s most-influential band with us.
