Workshop with Pearl Lui of Dear Daughters Design

Modern calligraphy workshop for beginners
For National Handwriting Day, explore a new skill in modern calligraphy. Pearl Lui of Dear Daughters Design will teach you the elegant basics with supplies to get you started. In this 90 minute class, you’ll learn how to:
- Store, use and dip ink
- Hold and use an oblique pen with nib
- Personalize any greeting card or gift
- Practice key calligraphy strokes, majuscules, minuscules, & connect letters
Attendees receive a take-home kit that comes with a jar of ink, 3 nibs, oblique pen holder, paper sample pack for practice and creations in class.
Registered spots will be honored for the first 10 minutes, and then will be opened to waitlist guests.
Pearl Lui is a member of the International Association of Master Penmen, Engrossers and Teachers of Handwriting (IAMPETH), Society of Scribes, Guild of Natural Science Illustrators, and a recipient of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh Certificate in Botanical Illustration.
Main Library
The Main Library on Plainfield Avenue next to the Edison Train Station. The library offers an extensive children’s room, a Meeting Room/Event Space, and a dedicated Maker Space.
