The Great Divide is a historical novel by Cristina Henríquez that explores the construction of the Panama Canal through the intersecting lives of various characters, including a Barbadian immigrant, a Panamanian laborer, and an American doctor. The book, set in 1907, focuses on the human cost and impact of the monumental project, highlighting the stories of those often overlooked by history. It was a TODAY Show Read With Jenna Pick and a New York Times Editors' Choice.
