A look back at the mysterious and spooky creations of Charles Addams
Charles “Chas” Addams was one of the country’s premier cartoonists, with his work prominently featured in The New Yorker. His most successful creation, The Addams Family, was inspired by his hometown surroundings in Westfield, NJ. The characters that began as illustrations grew into a television series, a live-action movie franchise, a Broadway musical, and a 2019 animated film with a 2021 sequel.
Documentarian, producer and TV-host Ron MacCloskey will tell us all about Chas Addams and the Addams Family through all its incarnations. Ron is the co-founder of Addamsfest, an annual festival in Westfield, as well as the producer of Remembering the Catskills on JLTV, and stage shows about Groucho Marx, Boris Karloff and others. His talk is sure to be creepy, kooky, and a lot of fun!
