Looking into the past of a summer pastime
From Sandy Hook to Pt. Pleasant, the many wonderful and unique entertainment venues along New Jersey's seacoast drew thousands of fun-seekers for decades. They also encouraged people from North Jersey and New York to consider moving to the Shore. This illustrated talk will bring back memories for those who recall the glory days of Asbury Park, Long Branch, and other notable—and now missed—summer entertainment venues.
Rick Geffken has authored numerous articles on New Jersey history and presented historical papers at the New Jersey History & Historic Preservation, the New Jersey Education Association, the New Jersey Library Association, and the Institute for Advanced Study (Princeton). He is a Trustee of the Shrewsbury Historical Society. He formerly served on the Jersey Coast Heritage Museum at Sandlass House. He is a currently an advisor for the Board of the Asbury Park Museum, and a member of the Monmouth County Historical Association.

The Main Library on Plainfield Avenue next to the Edison Train Station. The library offers an extensive children’s room, a Meeting Room/Event Space, and a dedicated Maker Space.
