A presentation of photos and information about Edison Township and the Edison Free Public Library. Presented by Walter R. Stochel Jr. of the Metuchen-Edison Historical Society.
In 1929 Edison was known as Raritan Township, and was mostly a rural community that just started to be developed with neighborhoods in different sections of the town. To serve the needs of the people of the Township, residents established a library in 1929. Since then Raritan has become Edison, with over 100,000 residents. The Library has grown from 1 room to 3 branches and a book mobile.
Walter R. Stochel Jr. will show photographs from the collections of the Metuchen-Edison Historical Society, which is celebrating it’s 50th anniversary this year.
Open to Adults. Registration is suggested but not required.
