A Jewish refugee who fled Nazi Germany will discuss her experience, with a Q&A to follow.
In 1939 the M.S. St. Louis carried 937 Jewish refugees out of Germany on a course set for Havana, Cuba where they would be free from Nazi persecution. But when they arrived they were denied entry by the Cuban government, then by the United States and Canadian governments, and were finally dispersed throughout Europe, where a quarter of them would perish in the Holocaust.
Eva R. Wiener made that ill-fated voyage when she was just 10 months old. Join us as Mrs. Wiener discusses her family's story, her life after the war, and how she is educating the next generation on the perils of the Holocaust and the urgency of stemming the tide of hate, bigotry, prejudice and antisemitism.
