Main Library
Children's RoomCome and celebrate the Day of the Dead by decorating your own traditional Ecuadorian sweet bread(guaguas de pan)!
Guaguas de pan are sweet bread in the shape of babies that are traditionally decorated with colorful icing to honor those who have passed and are eaten with a traditional drink called Colada Morada. They directly translate to "Bread Babies", in the native Quechua language of Ecuador, and is how Ecuadorians celebrate their version of the Day of the Dead or also known as Día de los Difuntos which translates to the Day of the Souls.
You can join us to decorate your own guagua, which will be sourced by a local Ecuadorian bakery, with the provided colorful icing to then of course eat! Materials will be provided to ensure proper food hygiene.
No registration required BUT limited supplies and space. First-come, first-serve!
