LGBTQIA2S+ people are no strangers to revolutions. So who were some of the queer people who lived during the American Revolution? Baron Frederick von Steuben was a gay soldier who designed the modern military. Cato was an enslaved person who who had an alternate persona as Miss Betty Cooper. The Public Universal Friend was a genderless religious leader. Casimir Pulaski, who reformed the cavalry and saved George Washington’s life, was found to be intersex two centuries after his death. Learn the history of people who have always been here and who have always been ready to fight!
